shopping for electronics
I am looking for a portable DVD player I can get for the little man. He loves to watch his educational DVDs so this will be a good item to purchase for him. This might also be good for long trips just in case we will go on one. I know he loved his cousin's portable DVD when he got to use it. It maybe a nice birthday gift for him come October. When I was searching online to compare prices though I got on the Circuit City website. I thought it was closed already but apparently its online store is still operating. Anyway, I am still looking. I might just go ahead and buy one at Buy.com when I have enough money saved up. The latter is a better option for me since I always use Paypal when I purchase products online and Buy.com has that option. I already found one within the range I am willing to pay. The next step will be saving money so I can buy one before the little man turns three.

good boy
Lately, the little man has been acting really good. I mean, he has not thrown any fits for a while and whenever I tell him to pick something up or hand me an item he always does it with no complaints. The husband is happy and proud. He said his little boy is being so good and so he tries to give in to whatever the little man wants. I am thinking, what is he up to? I can't help it, lol. I have seen him be so good you feel like giving him an award and then turns around and be a little terror in the blink of an eye. I surmised it must be because he is getting older? He understands us better and he can communicate with us through words instead of gibberish. Or maybe because his birthday is coming up and he wants more toys from Daddy? We don't know. Regardless of the reason though we are happy he is being good and we hope he will continue to be an agreeable child. And healthy. And hopefully I will not jinx myself by posting it here :)

life saver
There were times when I was growing up that I had problems with my eyesight. It was from too much reading with not enough light. I was only allowed to read late at night when I am studying but I sneaked and read paperbacks. If I could not use the lamp to read, I used flashlight and read under the cover until I got busted. But anyway, reading without ample lighting made my eyesight bad. It started getting blurry so I thought it might just be irritated from dust. Mother bought eyedrops because she will not use even the best eye creams on me without prescription. And it was expensive to go to the eye doctor so home remedy was used. It worked for a while but it came to a point where it got so bad so my parent gave me money so I could go to the doctor while I was in college. I was told my eyesight was bad and that I needed to wear eyeglasses anymore. The first time I wore my glasses I was so amazed at how clear everything was. I knew that my eyesight was bad but I did not know it was that bad. I have been wearing one since then and it may be annoying sometimes but I will not part with it. Of course I also have my assortment of eyedrops and eye creams from my eye doctor in case I will need them.

grandma!
I woke up the other day with a smile when my little boy ran to my side of the bed (he had been up a while) saying Mama! several times. He is so sweet. He calls his father daddy and sometimes in his excitement calls me that too. So when he did call me Mama while looking at me in the eyes there was no doubt it was me he was calling :) He has been practicing it seems since the other day he climbed up in bed with his father calling him daddy several times. It could be that he now knows the difference.
Yesterday he started saying Grandma for some reason. I don't know where he got the word from because although I told him he has grandparents in Leyte he only sees them in the pictures and his grandma in Indiana we only get to see once a year since he was born. But he was saying grandma over and over again and when we were out and he saw older women he yells Grandma! which was a bit embarrassing. This is when I am grateful he is not into pointing a finger at anything he sees. He only says what he think it is he saw and never points a finger especially in public. Thank goodness! At least now he knows what to call his grandma when he sees her. As for his grandma in the Philippines I will insist on him calling her Lola.

upgrade
About two months ago, with the husband's permission, I upgraded my phone. I did it not because there was something wrong with my phone. I just wanted something new. We were eligible for an upgrade anyway so I went ahead and chose the phone I liked. The good thing about it was that after all discounts the phone was free. We only had to pay for shipping which was less than $15. Good deal! Anyway, since I have had my old phone for almost two years, I had a lot of names on my contacts. The thought about typing each and every number was tiresome. I had a choice of a free online backup to save my contacts for a few dollars but I did not avail. It would have been easier since I can just import my list to my new phone but I do not want any addition to our bill since the husband runs out of minutes all the time which is pretty expensive when added up. It left me with the first option which was typing all numbers one by one. It took me two days to do it, on and off. I decided to not include some numbers especially those that I do not communicate often. Next time though if I have the money I might reconsider the second option. It should save me time.

starfall-ing
Somebody is hooked on Starfall. Can you tell who? Yes, the little man. I showed it to him after bookmarking it on my computer for a long time. I knew at the time the other mommy bloggers were talking about it that my boy was too little to even pay attention, much less be able to navigate the page on his own. He had to have practice which he had plenty for months now when he sits on my computer when I left it to do something else. I showed him what to do, where to click to see the next page and after a few minutes he was clicking like a pro. He had accidents where he minimizes the page and runs to me in a panic asking me what happened to his game but all in all he is doing good. He is learning on the alphabet for right now. In a few days we will try reading and see what happens. The only problem now is when I open my computer he sits in my lap asking me what happened to his game (he is cunning, lol) so I will let him play. I set a time for him because I don't want him spending too much time in front of the computer. In case you are wondering what he is sitting on, that is a potty chair which he already tore up but not used yet but that will be worth another entry :)

getting in shape
After giving birth to her first child, my cousin gained a lot of weight. When she got pregnant with the second baby she kept on gaining weight that she is so big anymore. Compared to her svelte figure when she was single she really is huge right now. She is doing something about it though. She said she does not want people to think she is her kids' nanny so she is going to the gym. We used to make fun of ourselves that if we keep on gaining weight we will look like old haggard women and she said before it happens she is planning on getting trim. She already enrolled on a gym and is going everyday. I on the other hand searched for best weight loss supplements until I found one I liked. You might wonder why I did not enroll on a gym but it is really simple, I don't have money to spare on membership, lol. It is expensive here where I am at. I can't leave the little man with his father because the latter is not able to take care of the former so we are stuck at home. I am not complaining though. I know someday this will change and we will be able to do things we can't right now. I just have to watch what I eat (good luck to me on that, lol) and do some exercises when I have the time. I hope for her own sake that my cousin will get trim because I know this is what she wants.

i see a...
This has become like a game to the little man. Whenever he sees something he knows, he shouts I see a and then proceeds naming what he saw. Every time we cross the bridge to get the next city he shouts I see a boat! And says it over and over until he sees something else like a car, a sign, or a store. It is funny because even when we are at home he points at things and asks me Do you see a clock? and when I reply and ask him if he does he says Yes, there is the clock with a finger pointing at it. He does this with basically everything inside the house. Sometimes he asks me if I see his daddy and when I pretend I don't he laughs and says there he is. He is very talkative and I am loving it. He is learning new things each day and he seems to be interested in books and singing which the husband takes as good signs. We want him to explore new things and learn along the way. I don't care acting goofy, singing off-key and answering his silly questions as long as I make him happy. He is such a joy when he is being good :)

he knows

President Obama! our two year old yelled when he saw this picture on my computer screen while the husband and I were reading one particular news the other night. He crawled up on my lap and pointed at this picture while yelling the name over and over again. Now we rarely watch television, it is always his educational DVD on because we get yelled at otherwise. Unless Diego is on. He must have remembered this face the few times his father watches CNN. He sure has good memory.

another baby
The stepson's wife is to give birth in a month. His mother and her parents are already getting things ready. Their apartment is packed with baby things from everybody. She has more stuff than she would actually need but I don't blame them for getting everything they think they need. It is her first baby and she might come to use all of the baby items she has when the baby is born. Everybody is excited especially her parents and I won't be surprised if they will give birth announcements to let relatives and friends know about their grandson. If I had known at the time, I probably would have let the world know I was giving birth to a boy. Only I did not and so we kept our joy within the family. I hope she will have a safe delivery and a healthy baby.

welcome to the family
Meet Teddy, the new addition to our family. The husband and I accepted him as part of our growing family last night when he slept beside him in bed to keep him warm while the little man waited for Mama to finish her nightly routine. He was comfortably ensconced by the husband's back that my heart melted when I saw him. It was not because of Teddy himself but because of the action our little boy did. He could not snuggle his father so he had to relegate it to Teddy while he waited for the most important person that was me, lol. Welcome to the family, Teddy. I really thought you will end up in the bin but I am glad somebody discovered your value. I know you will have to spend a lot of nights in bed with the little man. Keep him warm and safe okay?
