what happened?
My normal day consists of watching Filipino television series online when I am finished taking care of my family. I never fail to watch my favorite shows even if the husband said I am no longer Filipino and I should stick to American series, lol. Anyway, I was watching one of the shows the other day, and there was so much drama going on because the show is about to end. The little man who was doing his thing approached me and out of nowhere asked, What happened? I was so engrossed with the series I was watching that the words did not dawn on me right away. It was when he repeated the words did I notice that the little man actually talked to me and asked me a question. I had to tell him what was going on and he then smiled and went away to continue playing. He is a busybody. He never fails to get his nose into my business and he has to know what is going on. I guess it is good since he is learning along the way.

weekend rambling
Has it really been that long since I updated this baby? I thought it was just yesterday? Well, I have been busy here at home taking care of the husband and the little man, running errands, and doing things inside the house. The little man is his usual active self and keeping an eye on him makes me feel so old anymore, lol. I can't keep up. He likes to tease his father so much which the latter sometimes does not like. I have to act as referee most of the time. The husband yelling for my name is a normal occurrence in the D household anymore. That means I have to get his son away from him for a while because he can get rough and it is not good for him. Thankfully the husband is not really grumpy even with being sick and coped up in the house most days. He knows this is something he has no control over. We are getting by and our mantra is one day at a time. We are hoping for good things to happen soon like the husband getting well and the little man to start talking and behaving without teasing his parents. And for me to get my ten year card. I am still waiting for that.

mr. independent
As he gets older, the little man is acting independent. He wants to do things by himself. Instead of running to me to take his jacket off, he will wrestle with it even if it means bumping into things on the process. He would rather eat his lunch or dinner alone and when I try to help, he will not let go of the fork or spoon he is using. He likes to walk to the car instead of letting me carry him (this I like since he is getting heavy, lol). He insists on brushing his teeth after his bath. And I am almost sure if I let him, he would want to take his bath alone too which is a no-no for now. When we go anywhere it is not as hard as it used to because he is starting to mind even if sometimes he does not really want to. He does not allow me to kiss him in the lips anymore. He used to pucker his lips whenever I said mama wants a kiss. Not anymore. He gives me his forehead instead. He is growing up quick and is learning new words every day. We are proud of our little boy.

chunky
After giving birth to the little man, I lost a few pounds and I actually looked good. I thought I will continue to do so and will be back to my pre-pregnancy weight but I was wrong. Two years later I realized I gained two pounds. I know it does not sound too much but if you add that to a barely five foot me it is very visible. I am afraid I will keep on gaining weight because I have been eating like a pig the last few weeks. I am always hungry. Add the fact that I am getting older, I am almost convinced I will be fat forever. Should I take diet pills or should I minimize eating? Honestly, it is hard to minimize my food intake. Hey, I eat like a pig remember? Even the husband said I will get more chunky if I keep on with what I am doing right now especially since we are always coped up in the house day in and day out. He said I am getting americanized in a way that my body is storing food up on winters like they do here. I want to get back to my weight three years ago. If I can do that I probably will feel better. The sister in law said I should try sit-ups and laughed when I said I can only do two and could not lift my body anymore after that. I am not very good in the exercise department at all. I don't have the stamina. Or maybe I just don't have the drive. I think it is time to start before though or just forget about getting back in shape ever.

lost!
I was planning to watch The 40 year old Virgin on DVD so I laid it out in the entertainment center thinking when I have the time I will sit down and enjoy the movie. When I had the time I could not find the DVD anymore. The case is still in the entertainment center but the CD was gone, nowhere to be found, nada. I asked the husband if he saw the little man play with it but he said there were a lot of DVD's (the little man's ABC and Barney) on the floor he did not know if there was anything out of the ordinary mixed in the chaos. I have tried to look in his toy box and bags but I still could not find it. Where oh where is the DVD when I need it? I know I should have followed my instinct and hide it before I use it. Now it is too late. Who knows where the little man stashed it? To think I just borrowed it from my SIL. I told her about losing it and she said it was fine. It was not! I really would like to watch it. Will you help me look? I hope it will turn up one day just like his old toys do.

whining tot
When the little man got up from his nap yesterday he was whining even if I was holding him while we were sitting in the couch. I kept on asking him what was wrong which he answered with more whining. He was not crying but he had that whiny voice and I got worried because he normally does not do it when he wakes up from his nap. The husband who was sitting on the love seat told me to get one of our emergency lights (actually flashlights we have in certain areas in the house) and use it to check the little man's throat. He was afraid the little guy has strep. I did not get to check his throat though because he will not open his mouth and the husband cannot do anything to help me because he is sick himself. He just looked on and was as frustrated at me and the little man. He settled down after some time though and stopped whining. I guess he did not want to get up yet but something woke him up. That was the only explanation I can give because I don't really know what was wrong. But anyway, I am hoping the winter will pass without him getting sick. I can deal with him being rowdy as long as he is healthy all the time.
color segregation
I was busy in the kitchen last night dicing tomatoes and lettuce for our dinner so I did not have time for the little man who was playing with his rubber alphabet on one corner of the kitchen. Yes, he brings his toys and plays where the most traffic in the house is at. He was saying the letters and I just kept on saying good job while glancing at him from time to time. I then called my parents afterward to talk to them some more about the box we sent. When I was done all that (he had dinner before I did any of these) I went back to the kitchen to clean up and put food away. When I looked at his rubber alphabet I was amazed at what I saw. He segregated the letters according to colors! On one corner lie the green letters and the other the red ones which made me think that while he was saying the letters he was doing this as well. Isn't it amazing? I have taught him colors but most of the time he just smiles at me and closes his book which tells about colors and things. He loves to say yewo (yellow) though and hands me a yellow block at the same time. I am happy that even if he does not seem to be listening to me, he is absorbing what I teach him. I hope he will continue to learn because before long he will have to go to school. I am proud of my little boy.
