I decided to take pictures of the little guy so I can post a few here but he also made the decision to be the photographer so the photo op didn't go well. Most pictures I took were either of his face really up close, his hands, him trying to trample me down just so he can get the camera, and a lot of hands and fingers and eyes, and you get the drift right? So there won't be any pictures of him to post in here for now. Perhaps tomorrow if I get lucky.
He is becoming a handful but he also minds when I tell him to stop. I love the fact that he listens to his parents. He may run away whining when mama says no to him when he wants to climb up the table but the point is he knows how to listen. He asks why when told not to climb up on his parents bed but he gets down after a good explanation. Our little boy is growing up and we are proud of him.

loving the south
I know a few people who are living in New York. They seem to like the place and are enjoying living in there. As for me, I like the south more. The beach, the not so cold winter, the people, the food. That even with the help of a well known mover NYC area will be the last in my list for a state to move on to live permanently. The tropic raised girl in me wants to be near the water. Even if I don't know how to swim at all. There is nothing like the sea breeze to calm me down and invigorate my stressed body. Perhaps we will go to NYC one of these days to visit friends and act as tourists. It is always fun to be able to go places and enjoy the scenery.

not talking yet?
I talked to my parents the other day. It was just a normal talk about what's going on in Leyte and telling them about our gift for Papsy's 60th birthday. And talking about it led to their grandson who will be two years old in two months. They are worried that my son is not talking like a normal kid as yet. What they mean about normal is talking in sentences because there are kids they know in Leyte who are about my son's age who can already talk. They even pointed out that I started talking at 9 months (superkid, eh?) and was very conversant when I turned two. What they fail to mention was that I grew up using one and only dialect which was Visayan. Nothing else. My son on the other hand is bilingual. I didn't want to talk to him in any language but English but the husband was against it because he said it is his son's heritage, his right. He has to know both language. Which consequently resulted to him being slow verbally (I think). Of course he says the basic words as thank you (clearly), why (easy, lol), hi, hello, among others. He even mimicked his father when the latter said penny. And did I mention he knows some letters of the alphabet. But they still told me their grandson needs to be able to talk. How? Forcing him? I don't think that will work. I was a bit annoyed that they didn't understand. I talked to the husband about it and he said it is normal for bubby to not be very conversant yet. He told me not to worry. Sometimes though I can't help but wonder if there is something wrong with me or our son. But the way he acts and reacts is normal for a kid his age. I may just have to be passive to criticism when it concerns my son. As a mother though I can't help but worry.

in need of office supplies
We are out of printing papers and envelopes. It is time to start shopping for office supplies again. I have to make a list this time because I also need some binders and folders for my immigration stuff which I should be taking care of in the next few months. It will be a lot of work again reading instructions and filling out forms. The husband used to take care of everything but now that I am here he said he will leave everything to my capable hands. I have been lax in making sure we don't run out of important office supplies. The last couple of days I have been busy but not accomplishing anything. The husband is starting to think I am getting irresponsible. Well, not anymore. I think I am getting ready to get out of this mad spell.
time for a change
Ever since he was born, my son is used to sleeping without a pillow. I thought it was the right thing to do so his head will not get flat which is a common thing to happen with infants who can't move their heads yet. It worked well for us. As long as the bed is soft my son sleeps on it without asking for a pillow. Of course the husband doesn't agree to it but he doesn't have a choice :)
Last week though the husband gave his son a pillow. The little man didn't know what to do with it. It was fun looking at him trying to figure out what the pillow was for. Of course he didn't listen to his father when he was showed what it was for. A few days later though he started to use the pillow as his bed, lol. He sleeps on it. And when I say on it it means he lays his whole body on top of the pillow. And since he seems happy with it I am not going to get it from him. At least both my boys are happy.

he loves it
My son loves our new television set. The first thing he did when he woke up this morning was to run to it and tried to look for the buttons. Sadly (or should I say thankfully) the buttons are on top of the TV partly hidden and so out of view and out of reach from grubby little hands. The only problem is he tries to slap his hands on the screen which is not really good. I said no several times and I think he is starting to understand that I mean it so whenever he feels the itch to slap he touches the screen instead. We watched Ella the Enchanted on Disney a while ago and we both liked it. The only movie he watched from start to finish. How is that for a twenty two months old who turns off the TV when he doesn't like what is on? Amazing, right? Don't worry, I only let him watch TV for short periods of time. He is a smart boy and he knows what is good for him.

nice ride
We were driving on the interstate one day when I noticed a sleek car which passed by us. It was yellow which is my favorite color, fast and like what I said sleek. I described it beautiful and the husband said that was some way of describing a Corvette. Well, forgive my ignorance but that was what came to mind when I looked at it. He then said it is an expensive car and that people who owns those have the right to be proud and protective. I don't blame theme. I am not a car expert (the husband is) but I can tell a nice car when I see one. He then proceeded to tell me about Corvette parts, accessories and the usual talk about how to take care of cars. The mechanic in him is always after the welfare of a car. He said parts maybe a little expensive but then it is all worth it if you want your car to look good. I can't tell you how much he has spent on car parts and accessories and our cars aren't even as expensive as a Corvette. Imagine if he has one he probably will go broke buying accessories like car covers and such. But then an online store like the corvetteguys.com has a free shipping on all orders so that should have been a lot of savings.

we did it! or he did..
We did it! And it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Well in a way it was. Let me tell you from the start. I gave my son a bath and he was playing in the water when he started to squat. My thought was "oh, boy!" and as quick as I was he still managed to poop in the tub. Icky, I know. But who was I to know about what he would do? I picked him up and made him sit in the commode right away where he finished his business while I figured out a way to clean the mess. Thankfully by now I am immune to everything that comes out of my son's body so it wasn't really a huge problem. He sat in the commode like the good boy that he is and never complained. When I thought he was finished I cleaned him up and got ready for his nap. I think this will be an addition to our daily routine, making him use the toilet for his thing and then taking a bath. That way I don't have to deal with scooping up dirt and sanitizing the tub with lysol. Good job, bubby!

offline and didn't even know it
I was talking to my friends online when my son turned off the router to the internet. I was typing as fast as I could trying to convey my thoughts about a topic we discussed and I wondered why there was no reply. When I checked yahoo messenger I was no longer online. My son looked at me from where he was at and smiled wickedly. I wanted to get angry but he looked so cute and I know he just wanted mama to give him a little time so I did. He wanted me to run after him though which was not really good because I had a headache. Still I gave in and my boy was happy.
He loves to play with his toys particularly the rubber alphabet. He had the Y earlier and ran around yelling y all the time. It was hilarious. But when he gets bored he runs to me and plays with me for a while after which he runs to his corner and play again. I love it that he is a good boy and he minds us even if he really doesn't want to sometimes :)

nice offer
I received an offer from a credit card company of a new credit card with offer of up to five figures as long as I transfer my old credit card balances to the new one. I was even promised a no balance transfer fee for a few months. That was a good offer don't you think? But I am apprehensive about it. I rather like my credit cards even if they don't have that much. But the husband said to try it and see what happens. Well, guess what? They said they couldn't give me the promised credit card at the moment with reasons they will send in the mail in the days to come. I am relieved and a little unhappy with the result. Typical of me.

future basketball player?
I took this picture a couple weeks back. We were playing with his ball where instead of him passing it to me he ran as fast as he could with the ball to get away from me. It was hilarious and pretty tiring. I think I had more fun than my son, lol. I had to catch my breath and while at it decided to take pictures of him. This is the result. He was teasing me with the ball knowing that I was out of breath from running after him to get the ball. Boy, this kid runs so fast.

dream vacation
I want to be able to go to other states when the husband has the time and we have the money to spare. We plan on going to his birth place which is California and then his sister wants to go on a trip up north. I want to go to New York to visit my cousin and then to Reno because I have heard so much about the place. As for accommodations we don't have to worry because there are a lot of reno hotels to choose from. It will be something to look forward to.
bath time
When I give my boy his bath I always give him time to play for a few minutes after I rinse him off. But I turn off the water though when I think there is enough for him to play in. I don't want to endanger him in any way even if I am keeping a close eye on him. When I turned off the water though bubby started whining and tried to get out of the tub. I told him the rule about not getting up much less out of the tub without my help. He just whined some more thinking I was gonna get him out which I didn't because I knew he wanted to play some more and what could it hurt? So I let him play some more which made him so happy. He really loves the water and looks forward to his bath everyday. He could be engrossed on something but when he hears me say bath time he runs to the bathroom and wait for me in the door.

potty training
Our first attempt at potty training today went well. Not that my son pooped but at least he was comfortable sitting in the commode. I am going to try to do this until he gets ready to do his thing in the bathroom. I know he is about ready because he tries to take his diaper off and was even successful on some of his attempts like yesterday. He will be two years old in a few months and diapers are really getting expensive. It is time for mama to help her boy do things like a big boy does. Let's all hope we will be successful with this plan.

learning new things
I have to get things ready for my boy's bath which should be in an hour or two. But before that I have to update my blogs and check my sources if there ever are good things waiting for me. I sometimes still get amazed with the things I do right now, doing one thing I like which is basically talking only I have to do it in writing. When I talked to my college friend and told her what to do to set up her blog and widgets and other things she was surprised because who would have thought I will know, lol. It was her who brought me to the internet cafe and let me loose in front of the computer. I didn't have any idea about technology then not that I wasn't interested but because I didn't have the money to spare. Didn't get to know anything about computer parts, laptops, video cards, camcorders, digital cameras and other latest inventions until I got here to live with the husband. It sounds awful isn't it? But to me it wasn't. It made me try to learn and update myself. And it makes it more fun and exciting.

playing with mama's laptop
I had my laptop on the coffee table in the living room this morning for my entrecard dropping and bloghopping at the same time. I had to leave it for a few minutes because I needed to do things here and when I got back my boy was sitting on the chair facing the computer and tapping on the keys really slowly trying to work out the cursor at the same time. He loves to play with either computer if we let him and I do from time to time if he is good. I want him to know that I will let him do things if he listens to mama. Now I don't know if this is good strategy but it sure works on him. I don't let him stay long in it either, just a few minutes so his eyes won't suffer.
dream room furniture giveaway
If you are looking for nice furniture for your house without having to pay too much then buying discount furniture is the way to go. Why would you pay more when you know you can get the furniture you want for less? This has been what the husband and I have been doing, looking for quality furniture at affordable prices. We want our house to look nice without compromising our budget. And what do we know there is a store in North Carolina that sells the furniture we like and they even have a fun promo to where some lucky people will get their dream furniture if they join the random sweepstakes. And check this out, there is no purchase necessary. All one has to do is to register and enter the drawing once per day for a chance to win room furniture. Isn't this great? Maybe we should try this who knows we might get lucky and win. That way we don't have to spend anything.

smart little man
My little boy didn't want to sleep in his bed for his nap. My forcing him to put in his bed resulted to his screaming fit which the husband said wasn't good because the neighbors are home and that they might have heard his son's cries. He transferred him to the playpen where he watched television and played with his blankie until he fell asleep. He might have been afraid that we will sneak again and leave him with his brother while we go to the store for groceries. He is getting smarter. He wants to make sure he keeps both eyes on his parents to let us know he knows what we were planning to do.
